Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

Q. How do we book?

A. To booked we will first discuss the available dates to find future dates that work well for you. The session date may be impacted by your schedule, due date, the birth date of your baby, birthdays, etc. We will then select a location for your session, either in studio or outdoors. Once we know where and when the session will take place I will draft a service agreement and invoice that will be sent to you electronically. Sessions are not considered to be booked until a $50 retainer has been satisfied and the contract has been signed electronically. The remaining balance will be due 48 hours prior to your session date.

Q. What should we do on the day of our shoot?

A. Plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes early to allow time for hectic traffic, parking, and other last minute issues that may arise. Arrive dressed and ready to shoot with hair and make up complete (with the exception of young children, who may be dressed at the location prior to shooting time to avoid spills, spit up, etc). Remember that the sun will set and that time is limited, so arriving on time is very important. Please avoid giving kids colored foods like blue lolly pops, green Gatorade, M&Ms, Cheetos, etc on the way to the session or during the shoot as this may impact the quality of your images.

Q. What happens if it rains?

A. On the day of your session I will be closely monitoring the weather and will touch base with you about 2 hours prior to our session time to let you know if we need to reschedule due to incelement weather. If we reschedule your session we will find a date and time that works well for both parties. Florida weather is unpredictable, so we will do our best to make the best choice for you and your family. If you have a hair or make up appointment booked for the day of your session please watch the forecast and plan ahead to avoid getting all dressed up for a thunderstorm!

Q. Where should we shoot?

A. That all depends on you! Consider the feeling, colors, and scene that speaks to you. Some popular options are rustic locations, beaches, urban areas, grassy sunlit fields, and local parks. The most important thing, at the end of the day, is lighting- so we will work together to be sure that we find a spot that you love with lighting that will work well to create flattering images.

Q. When will I receive my images?

A. Your digital gallery will be finished with editing approximately 2-3 weeks after your session date. At that time you will receive the link to view and download your edited, high-resolution images.

MATERNITY

Q. When should I book my maternity session?

A. I recommend that maternity sessions be completed about 4-5 weeks before your scheduled due date, unless otherwise indicated by your doctor. Spots go quickly, and this is a time sensitive session, so please book well in advance to be sure to get your choice of dates.

Q. I want to use one of your gowns. Can I try them on?

A. Once you have signed your contract and paid the retainer for your session we will establish a date for you to come to the studio to try on gowns from the collection.

Q. What kind of underwear should I get for under my gown?

A. I recommend boy-short style underwear in a color that compliments your gown.

Q. What happens if I deliver before my session date?

A. Clients who deliver before their session date will receive a full refund, as well as the option to put that payment toward a newborn shoot if there is availability for a session at that time.

NEWBORN

Q. When should I bring my baby in for portraits?

A. Newborn portraiture is unique in that the window for some of the posing is fleeting. It is important that you book before birth for a date within 10 days of your due date. This date will be adjusted as needed to ensure that your baby is seen within 10 days of birth.

Q. What should I do to prepare?

A. You do not need to bring any outfits or props for your baby. On the day of your shoot you should bring enough formula/breastmilk for over three hours, sanitized pacifiers, blankets, diapers and wipes. The room will be heated, so please don't forget comfortable and cool clothing and snacks and drinks for yourselves, too!

Q. Who should come to the shoot?

A. Only two adults should accompany the baby to the session as the shoots are long, hot and seating is limited. Siblings should be brought to the shoot for the last 45 minutes of the session to complete sibling portraits.

Q. What if my baby is in the NICU for an extended time frame?

A. Babies who are in the NICU will be given the option to shoot once they are discharged, or a refund, depending on the wishes of the parent.
